“Bli kjent med Apier” is Norwegian for “get to know Apier”, and that is exactly what this page is for.

Apier is a small Norwegian company with one clear job: making Norway's public-sector APIs simple to use. Norway runs some of the most digitised government infrastructure in the world: Maskinporten for machine-to-machine authentication, Altinn for dialogue between businesses and the state, Skatteetaten for tax, and Brønnøysundregistrene for the company registers. Each of them is excellent at what it does. Each of them also comes with its own documentation, its own authentication model, its own data formats, and its own quirks.

If you have ever tried to connect software to more than one of them, you know how the story goes: weeks of reading, certificates and scopes, test environments that behave differently from production, and four separate integrations to maintain forever. Apier exists so you can skip that part. You integrate once, with us, and we handle the plumbing to the government platforms behind one consistent API.

What Apier is

In general terms, Apier is a translation layer. On one side sit your systems: a web application, an accounting product, an internal tool, or an AI agent. On the other side sit the government platforms. In between, Apier speaks both languages: it answers questions like “does this company exist, and who can sign for it?”, “which obligations and deadlines apply to a company like this?”, and “is this agent actually allowed to act on this company's behalf?”. Every answer comes back in one consistent, machine-readable shape, with a note about where the data came from and when it was verified.

We are deliberately not a data broker. We do not sell lists of companies. The value is the understanding: what applies, who may act, and when things are due, kept up to date against the authoritative sources, so you do not have to keep four mental models in your head.

Who it's for

Three groups, mainly. Developers building products that touch Norwegian companies (onboarding flows, KYB checks, accounting software) who want one clean API instead of four government integrations. Teams building AI agents, who need their agent to understand Norwegian compliance and to prove it is authorised before it touches anything real. And accounting firms and compliance teams, who spend their days looking things up manually and would rather have their software do it.

Why it exists

Because the hard part of Norwegian compliance was never the information: it is public. The hard part is the distance between “the information exists somewhere” and “my software can act on it reliably”. Every team that bridges that distance builds the same bridge, alone, again. We thought that was a waste, so we built the bridge once and made it a product. Norway's digital infrastructure deserves to be easy to build on, for people here and for anyone abroad who works with Norwegian companies.
